Mohali: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday accused the Congress Party of disrupting the parliamentary proceedings for its “personal freedom and interest” and dared the opposition for a debate on the National Herald case. “Neither the erstwhile officer nor the present officer has issued any notice”, he added while responding to Chidambaram’s allegations that the ED officer was changed as soon as the Modi government came to power which led to suspicion of political vendetta.

Reiterating that it was political vendetta as far as National Herald case was concerned, Congress vice president said on Wednesday that it was BJP’s way of doing politics.
Jaitley said the answer to the Congress leadership landing up in a “Chakravyuh” is to fight their battle legally and not disrupt Parliament.
“Everyone is equal before the law and nobody in the country is allowed privileges; the Gandhis should realise that”.
Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi (L) listens to her son and lawmaker Rahul Gandhi (R), at her husband and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial, on the occasion of his 23rd death anniversary, in New Delhi May 21, 2014.
Fresh from a humiliating defeat in Bihar Assembly elections and a poor show in Gujarat civic polls, the BJP appeared humbled till barely a week back.
“It is being driven by the Prime Minister’s office”, he claimed while responding to reporters’ questions whether the National Herald case was an outcome of vendetta politics. Plus, with many states lending support to the GST bill, will other Opposition parties be open to the prospect of an entire session being washed out because of an issue that is primarily putting only two individuals on the backfoot.
Raising slogans against the ruling dispensation, the Congress leaders alleged that dictatorship on part of the government would not be accepted.
“We want GST to pass, we are open to discussion (and) are looking at arriving at a consensus over the GST Bill”, a senior BJP leader, who didn’t want to be named, said.

A Congress MP from Maharashtra said: “Looks like we will have to do this kind of disruption daily till December 19, when they appear in the court”. “One hundred per cent political vendetta”. Congress chief ministers, lawmakers, all PCC chiefs and AICC office-bearers plan to walk alongside the two in a padyatra, making it “Indira Gandhi at the Shah Commission” redux. “If you feel there has been injustice then appeal in the High Court…, if not in High Court then Supreme Court”, he said, adding the Congress has stooped to the level that bills are being torn in the House.
