Seahawks RB Rawls out with ankle injury vs Ravens

Brown has been on the Hawks roster two times previously, but has not played in a game for Seattle.

Meanwhile, Rawls, the 22-year-old running back from Flint Michigan, is out for the season due to an ankle injury sustained during their game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Dec. 13, CBS Sports noted. He also ran three times for three yards.

Asked if it is reasonable to expect Lynch to return before the regular season ends in three weeks at Arizona, Carroll said: “I don’t know”.

Carroll wasn’t disclosing Lynch’s rehab whereabouts: “You’ll have to talk to him about that”. “He has to get past that, then get into shape”. It’ll have been, we’re at three weeks from his surgery (Monday), I think, and he hasn’t been able to go yet very hard.

So for now the Seahawks will go with a combination of Harris, Jackson and Brown, with Carroll adding that fullback Derrick Coleman – who played tailback at UCLA – could join the mix.

Carroll said veteran Fred Jackson, who’s served as Seattle’s third-down back throughout the season, will remain in that role.

Carroll said Harris “did fine” and “hit stuff pretty well. But he plays with a lot of energy”. Doing whatever they wanted on the drive, Wilson would find wide receiver Tyler Lockett for the final 8-yard touchdown pass that drew first blood. The running back has averaged 4.4 yards per carry for 1,004 yards during his career. Some fumbling issues there helped lead to his release before this season.

“It’s a good opportunity to bring back a guy we’ve been training”, he said. “He’s going to be rehabbing off site until he’s ready to get back and start practicing”, Carroll said. Therefore, it will fall to a pair of free-agent signings – Brown and DuJuan Harris – to serve as Seattle’s primary ball carriers, at least in the short term.

Carroll said the team doesn’t believe Rawls needs surgery on the ankle. The loss of Rawls didn’t slow Seattle’s offense, but it does leave the Seahawks wondering who will carry the load going forward.

“We have a chance to finish this season on a really high note”, he said.
