Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN)U.S. Labor Secretary Tom Perez will formally endorse Hillary Clinton in Iowa on Friday, according to a campaign aide, joining the presidential candidate for two campaign events in the Hawkeye State.

The former secretary of state has made gun control a staple of her stump speech in recent months, most notably since the shooting in Charleston, South Carolina in June.

After a rousing introduction for Hillary Clinton at a town hall meeting in Dover, New Hampshire, Thursday night, the mood quickly grew somber as Clinton brought up the deadly shootings, allegedly by a heavily armed couple in California who killed 14 people.

Authorities need to finish their investigation, Clinton said, but she added that the situation “raises serious questions” about how Americans should be protected and how to ensure that the US has the best possible intelligence.

“We must authorize resources for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study and research the causes and effects of gun violence in the United States of America”, the Facebook post said.

Today she pressed Congress to pass legislation prohibiting individuals on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s no-fly terror list from purchasing guns.

In the October poll, Clinton and Sanders ran almost evenly among voters under age 55 (42% Clinton to 37% Sanders), liberal voters (43% Clinton to 37% Sanders) and independents who lean toward the Democratic Party (41% Clinton to 37% Sanders).

“If you are too risky to fly in America, you are too unsafe to buy a gun in America”, she said.

Clinton’s two stops in Iowa, the home of the nation’s leadoff presidential caucuses, were also about plugging a new plan to rebuild the nation’s aging transportation system.

“These new Benghazi emails are disturbing and show why Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration had to be forced to disclose them”, said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton in a release to Newsmax.

Perez’s endorsement is critical for Clinton contemplating his ties to one of her rivals for the Democratic nomination, former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley.

Clinton has criticized Sanders for not being tough enough on gun control.

The newly released emails also include one from Clinton’s advisor Sidney Blumenthal, sent just three days after the attack that calls then-GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney “contemptible on a level not seen in past contemptible political figures” and a “mixture of greedy ambition and hollowness”. We have a president that refuses to use the term.

“The problem is people all over this country, not you Secretary Clinton, are shouting at each other”, he said.
