Trump spoke of Cruz during a recent speech. With Blitzer known for his foreign policy chops, a CNN source told Politico that candidates should think of this as the “commander in chief” debate.

Former Hewlett-Packard Chairman and CEO Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich also qualified for the top-tier debate due to their New Hampshire averages. This is the first debate to use early-state polls as a way for candidates to qualify for the main stage. The main debate coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. Arizona time (8:30 p.m. Eastern).

CNN personality Wolf Blitzer will moderate the debate, with help from conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt and CNN’s Dana Bash. CNN has not said how many seconds each candidate will have to answer questions or rebut others, but there will surely be time constraints Tuesday night. The undercard debate airs at 5 p.m. central. “Rand Paul in the prime-time debate”, a network spokeswoman said on Sunday.

To Carson’s right will be Florida Sen.

The debate will draw contrast between the Republican candidates, as some of them, including Sen.

Unless Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Lindsey Graham and George Pataki come out on stage dressed up as a barbershop quartet and begin singing (with Huckabee on bass) there is absolutely no reason to watch tonight’s debate. To Cruz’s left will be former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Christie and Paul. Coverage will begin at 3 p.m. on CNN.
