CBI raid was to retrieve DDCA files linked to Jaitley: Arvind Kejriwal

The chief minister said Jaitley had been involved for a long time with the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), which he alleged had become a den of corruption.

“The CBI was searching all the files in my office which was pending to be signed by me”. They claimed Kumar was not cooperating with agency sleuths in opening his email accounts. I want to ask which files the CBI is looking for in my office. “This is the DDCA file under which Arun Jaitley is getting trapped”, the chief minister claimed. “I have a strong feeling that the raid was conducted to save Jaitley ji because I was about to order a commission of enquiry against corruption cases in DDCA”.

The grounds for the raid were that the Delhi’s present Principal Secretary Rajender Kumar is alleged to have committed some acts of corruption, before Kejriwal’s tenure.

The CBI raid is bound to intensify the face-off between Kejriwal and the central government.

Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today exposed to Modi Government’s lie in Parliament about the CBI raid. In response, the finance minister and the communications minister insisted that the raid was limited to Kejriwal’s principal secretary and was supported by a court obtained search warrant.

After a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues and senior AAP leaders that lasted around two hours, Kejriwal said the Centre will not be able to scare him and that he will continue to fight till his last breath.

Naidu also said Kejriwal’s reaction to the raid reflects “hypocrisy at its worst”.

BJP said that Arvind Kejriwal should apologise for his statement.

“The CBI emphatically denies having searched the office of the Delhi Chief Minister, she said, adding that “false propaganda should not used to impede the CBI’s investigations”. The CM of Delhi, who has been in a tussle with the Centre ever since he came to power has launched allegations at the Prime Minister, calling him a coward.

Speaking to Agence France-Presse, a spokesman for the bureau gave few details but insisted that Kejriwal’s own office had not been targeted. Kejriwal contested that claim with another tweet and said the investigating agency was lying. “CBI is raiding my office; I was surprised when I came to know about it. Entire country knows AAP is running the most honest government in Delhi”, he alleged.
