The department also said it has identified two children who were in the pair’s physical custody and who are missing.
Plumas County Sheriff’s Office Tami Joy Huntsman, 39, and Gonzalo Curiel, 17, were arrested on charges of felony child abuse, torture, and mayhem Friday, police said.
Redding Police Investigators have learned that Huntsman and Curiel traveled between Salinas (CA), Redding (CA), Shingletown (CA) and Quincy (CA) between November 27, 2015 and December 11, 2015. Investigators would not say what they were looking for there.
A case of suspected child abuse led to the discovery of the bodies of two young children in a storage locker.
On Friday, authorities found the 9-year-old on the floorboard of a locked Toyota 4Runner near a Quincy home.
Huntsman and Curiel, who had recently moved to Quincy from Salinas, have not been charged with murder in the deaths of the children, found Sunday in a unit at the AAA Enetrprise Store-All on Tarmac Road.
Police investigating the children’s deaths at the scene, as shown on United States news reports.
The Associated Press typically doesn’t identify abuse victims and isn’t naming the suspects because their relationship to the children is unclear.
Homicides detectives are investigating after two children were found dead inside a commercial storage unit in Northern California.
Tami Huntsman, 39, and Gonzalo Curiel, 17, did not enter pleas and through their attorneys asked for the hearing to be delayed until next month. Anyone that may have seen Huntsman or Curiel during this time period is asked to call the Redding Police Department. They are now being held on a $1 million bond.
Employees there refused Tuesday to make any comments.
