Manchester United stars are “hiding” behind criticism of Louis van Gaal, says

Marouane Fellaini levelled for the visitors, who were without nine first-team regulars at the Vitality Stadium, but former United youngster Joshua King sealed the three points for Bournemouth with a finish from a low corner-kick.

On receiving criticism for United’s recent results, the manager told the BBC: “It is always like that”. It’s not new. It’s a matter of belief, if you believe in this manager or not.

“That is the most important thing”.

“I read the same things 20 years ago”.

The 25-year-old took to social media after United’s shock loss at Bournemouth. “But other clubs are asking for much more from us than from Bournemouth”.

The problems are stacking up for under-pressure United manager Louis van Gaal in his second season in charge of England’s biggest club.

‘We have to keep fighting – but now we have to win three in a row just to be up there still after Christmas.

Louis van Gaal responded to another devastating defeat by insisting that Manchester United can still be champions.

Moyes loaned “Chicharito” to Real Madrid – where he scored seven goals in 23 matches last season – and Van Gaal went a step further, off-loading the Mexican striker for good. “It is also hard for Manchester City and Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea or Leicester”. We have to train, we have to prepare for Norwich City and we have to beat them.

Leicester, second in table and with a game in hand over United, host Jose Mourinho’s side on Monday and a win for the Foxes would leave Van Gaal’s side five points off the top. We have to stick together and prepare our match against Norwich City and you have to win because otherwise it is more hard. You can lose and win in sport, you have to accept it. But before they can lick their wounds, they have to face Bournemouth, the squad that just defeated the Premier league champions! They have done everything, but they have lost.

It completed a miserable week for Van Gaal having seen his side crash out of the Champions League at the group stage on Tuesday evening at the hands of Wolfsburg. “That’s not normal for us because we gave a lot of attention to all the organisation but they had a few variations and they did it very well, I have to say, but still it can’t be, I believe”. Also the winning goal was two minutes after we had equalised, so we had the chance to win I think.

United’s woes were about to deepen, as Stanislas scored directly from the set-piece, David de Gea’s fingertips not strong enough to prevent a curling delivery from going in at the back post.

“It definitely does [give us belief]”, he said.
