Arvind Kejriwal blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the “raid”, calling him a “coward and a psychopath”.
Rajendra Kumar was questioned by the CBI on Tuesday, and returned to its headquarters on Wednesday for further questioning.
“After a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues and senior AAP leaders that lasted around two hours, Kejriwal said the Centre will not be able to scare him and that he will continue to fight till his last breath”.
The CBI claims it has found about Rs. 13 lakh cash in raids on Rajender Kumar and another person.
At 10:13 a.m., Mr. Kejriwal through social media announced that Chief Minister’s Office was raided. “Arun Jaitley was president of the DDCA for several years and there was corruption inside DDCA”, said the Delhi CM. Arvind Kejriwal also alleged that the CBI checked the filed related to the graft cases of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) in which Arun Jaitley in involved. The chief minister claimed he was in fact the target and that Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar was just an excuse.
Both Houses of Parliament witnessed protests by the Opposition members over the CBI raid this morning.
Joshi had in July registered complaints with CBI and Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi Government, accusing Kumar of indulging in corruption. The agency said it has recovered Rs.2.4 lakh and an additional Rs. 3 lakh in foreign currency from Kumar’s house.
“They wanted the file of DDCA…”
CBI spokesperson Devpreet Singh too had denied any raid at Kejriwal’s office.
The incident sent many, including Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, into laughter.
Mr Kejriwal reportedly worked from the office of his deputy Manish Sisodia.
