Almost 40 years after Star Wars first hit screens, excitement for next week’s release of the latest installment in the blockbuster space saga is reaching fever pitch.

Harrison Ford delighted a group of fans when he made a surprise appearance at a special preview screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in Australia.

One fan, Lavonne Dominguez, wasn’t interested in simply buying a ticket online to see the movie in her local movie theater.

“At the conclusion of 10 breakneck minutes of footage from the notoriously secretive film, Ford stood up out of his seat”, the report states.

The film’s stars, including original 1977 cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, are all expected to join director and co-writer JJ Abrams on the red carpet amid tight security.

By far, far and away, the most anticipated movie of 2015 is “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

Disney said the standalone would look at how Han Solo became the smuggler Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first meet in the 1977 original Star Wars film. “Finally, we will be able to exhale”, the 40-something said.

The Force Awakens will have its United Kingdom premiere in London on Wednesday.

Official Star Wars merchandise will also be available to purchase at the cinema.

Which means, of course, that for its
purchase to pay off, Disney will need “The Force Awakens”, and, more
importantly, the mass “Star Wars” merchandising industry it will restart, to be as
successful as predicted.

Anyway – Abrams, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega make a case for why you should try to seek out the real IMAX experience for The Force Awakens by talking up how fantastic the IMAX cameras are and hinting at the sequence they shot with them, which involves Boyega’s Finn.
