It is fair to say Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is the most anticipated movie of 2015 and it lives up to the hype that has been surrounding it.
However, reviews have come back good after the premiere. And every bit has paid off. Never did J.J. throw in a reference for free Star Wars points, he knew that we as fans wanted respect, and he didn’t disappoint. The Force Awakens definitely answers a few key questions in the very first few seconds, and satisfies from opening crawl to end credits. The original trilogy is revered to in such a way that THE FORCE AWAKENS seems distinctly patterned on A NEW HOPE, a fact which both works to the film’s favor and hampers it somewhat.
Cate Blanchett, Rachael Taylor and Mel Gibson are expected to walk the red carpet at the Sydney premiere which kicks off at 7pm tonight.
Abrams’ addition to the Star Wars franchise is an action-packed affair from start to finish.
The Telegraph’s Robbie Collin, who admitted to crying three times, said director JJ Abrams and his team had “taken a slightly tattered franchise and restored its sense of magic and myth”.
Seeing Han Solo and Princess Leia back on screen together was a highlight, as was seeing some of the other (and I’ll try not to be too specific to spoil it) non-humans.
“When I was doing my research for my book, George shared with me his outlines for a total of 12 “Star Wars” films”, Pollock said.
The movie opens on Friday, though several theaters in the Phoenix area will begin showing it Thursday evening.
Documentary director Brett Morgen, best known for Montage of Heck about Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, wrote: “Force Awakens might be the best blockbuster since the original”.

Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, was also present at the ceremony, even though his character has been absent from all promotional material leading to the release of the film.
