Donald Trump supporters baffled over Muslim comment backlash

Trump lacks political grace; his comments are not politically correct. “No one else would do it”, a woman said of his plan to suspend Muslim immigration and tourist travel. He could face implacable opposition from Republicans on some of his economic ideas – but get a warmer reception from Democrats at the same time.

While Our Friends Who Like Bernie Sanders and Our Friends Who Like Hillary Clinton trade friendly jibes and greeting cards with Our Friends Who Like Chris Christie and Our Friends Who Like Jeb Bush, Our Friends Who Like Donald Trump are angry little Scrooges and Grinches, at least on the outside.

By their own description, Trump supporters are frustrated and angry about the direction of the nation.

ABDUL-JABBAR: Absolutely. And, you know, because of this, we can’t do anything about it because for one reason, nothing about his campaign is, let’s say, illegal, because in our country, candidates aren’t required to tell the truth. He backs “prevailing wages” for US positions filled by foreigners with special H-1B visas. In 2008, he suggested that Barack Obama appealed to voters because the IL senator didn’t have a “Negro dialect”.

In the wake of mass shootings and terrorist attacks, along with the endless speculation about the ulterior motives of Syrian refugees, Donald Trump has the ideal platform to push his seemingly radical political agenda. She only expressed “regret” that some were offended.

“…would be better than the Muslim brotherhood sympathizer who’s in office now”. They want to know someone hears them and is willing to listen and to do something about it if given the chance. And he’s doing a pretty good job of it. He’s buffaloed a lot of people, and the problem is we don’t have enough people challenging him on the basis of the factual reality of what he’s saying. “I think that he’s a buffoon you have to take seriously”.

But the secretary of state told Stephanopoulos the American people will not accept a leader who doesn’t understand the importance of combating climate change. Restrictions on Muslim American rights to pray, or on freedom of expression? Trump-bashing is cheap and easy. “I think there were people who did celebrate but it’s an exaggeration, exaggeration gets attention”.

With this latest attack on Muslims, Trump has inspired a rare unity among leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties. We’re not all bad people. You can stand outside in a storm and pretend it isn’t raining. “You’re not going to be able to make the point”.

Demonizing Muslims not only puts American Muslims in danger, it threatens our collective security by helping Islamic State make the case that the United States and the West are at war with Islam.

In addition, the majority of Americans are found to believe that radicalized US citizens pose a greater threat to the homeland than do terrorists who infiltrate USA borders – 46 percent to 36 percent, with 13 percent saying that both pose an equal threat. As a news outlet, we did not want to give his name even that extra bit of publicity, but as the stakes are getting higher and the primaries are getting closer – we feel responsible to alert our readers that this man may actually have a shot at becoming our nation’s president.

No, no, nothing to see here.

Andrew Cuomo said Monday that Donald Trump has become a “recruitment poster” for ISIS with his comments alienating Muslims across the globe.
