“We’re going to put together a program and a package of reliable people in the community and sureties to see that she is presumed innocent and she gets a reasonable bail and conditions that protect the public and that are fair”, Barry said.

The stabbing occurred on Friday afternoon at a Shoppers Drug Mart, located underground at 66 Wellington St., near Bay Street.

Bisesar was questioned by police overnight and CTV Television Network reported that she arrived at court Wednesday morning ahead of her scheduled hearing.

Surveillance footage shows Bisesar leaving a store Friday, moments after she stabbed another woman in an “unprovoked” attack, police allege.

Friends and colleagues later said Bisesar is a Toronto-based financial advisor with a decade-long history of work in finance.

Speaking with reporters outside the courthouse, the suspect’s lawyer said his client “seems calm” but is clearly upset with all that has happened in the last few days.

He said she has no prior criminal record or outstanding charges.

Forty-year-old Toronto resident Rohinie Bisesar is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and carrying a concealed weapon.

“We’ll have to take it one step at a time and we’ll have a lot more information…on Friday when we return”, he said.

The victim, who police said is in her late 20s, sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in critical condition.
