Trump says United Kingdom is trying hard to disguise a ‘massive Muslim problem’

The exchange was in response to a column Hopkins wrote about Trumps calls for all US Muslims to be forced to wear I.D badges and for a complete ban on Muslims entering the country.

Former secretary of state and current Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she said that Donald Trump is no longer amusing.

The Israeli daily Haaretz quoted unnamed officials from the Prime Minister’s Office as saying they were not involved in any way in the cancellation of Trump’s visit.

More than 400,000 people have signed the petition, entitled “Block Donald J Trump from UK entry”, after Trump called for a total ban on Muslims entering the United States earlier this week.

Mr Trump tweeted that he is postponing the trip, which had become problematic for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

When asked if he thinks the US needs Muslim nations to fight jihad, the embattled business mogul said, “No I don’t, but I do think it’d be very helpful”.

“As a Jew, my parents taught me that we must stand up against attacks on all communities”.

Even before that comment, two-thirds of American voters said they were concerned or frightened by the thought of a Trump presidency.

“You have tremendous hatred out there, and until we find out what’s going on, and that’s all I’m saying – I want this to be temporary”.

The poll released Thursday, conducted for NBC and the Wall Street Journal, also found that 41 per cent of respondents agreed that Trump’s antics are often insulting and take the wrong approach. He also said, “I’m a negotiator, like you folks”.

While Netanyahu rejected Trump’s proposal on Muslims, he said he would still meet with him.

Peter Westmacott, the British ambassador to the United States, said “we are very proud of the Muslim community in the United Kingdom” adding that what extremist goups were doing had nothing to do with Islam.

He didn’t specifically name Trump, who is leading in the polls among Republican presidential hopefuls.
