Cesc Fabregas urges Chelsea players to justify wages

Chelsea are considering offering Guus Hiddink a second short-term stint as Chelsea manager should owner Roman Abramovich sack Jose Mourinho with Diego Simeone their long-term target for next summer.

While they are now 16th in the league table on 15 points, just a point separates them from the relegation scrap and there are suggestions that the Blues should not count out the previously unthinkable possibility of dropping down to the Championship.

The Leicester fans in The Transfer Tavern are delighted with Mahrez’s comments and are hopeful that if the club keep continuing the way they are that they can earn a Champions League place come May.

“I am not saying you can’t have a bad season and bad games but the attitude must be spot on”.

“We must always be at the top of our games and the behaviour has to be better than what we are seeing right now from every single Chelsea player”, said midfielder Cesc Fabregas following the loss to Leicester.

There was, though, no emergency meeting scheduled for Wednesday, when the club’s position was unchanged as Mourinho took training at Cobham after the squad were back from a day off.

Divisions between the players were highlighted, when Costa accused the Chelsea defenders of sleeping after Leicester’s first goal on Monday night.

However, Fabregas believes the players should be taking responsibility for underperforming. “My players got all that information, you can ask them, they are honest guys who will tell you it is true”. Oh yes, we also have the Premier League’s record-breaking goalscorer as well, the player with the most assists, three of the fastest players in the top flight….

“I’m sure they’ll be looking to win the FA Cup because it looks like their only hope [of a trophy] at the moment”.

Leicester City star Riyhad Mahrez says he will not be tempted to leave the club in January amid reported interest from Manchester United. “We have to try to be better than we were”.
