Palestinian rams vehicle into Israeli crowd at bus stop

Palestinian medical sources told Reuters that four people went to hospital with gunshot wounds after a clash that erupted during the raid, which the army said was intended “to arrest suspects and confiscate weapons”.

According to the group, Israeli soldiers and police officers fired at some Palestinian assailants even after they were wounded and posed no further threat.

A Palestinian motorist rammed into a bus stop in Jerusalem on Monday, injuring at least 11 people before he was shot dead by a security guard, Israeli police said.

The Palestinian health ministry confirmed the deaths of Ahmad Jahajha, 21, and Hekmat Hamdan, whose age was not disclosed.

Regarding the two-state solution, two-thirds of respondents said Israel’s expansion of settlements has made a two-state solution no longer viable, while three-quarters see prospects for establishing a Palestinian state next to Israel in the next five years as slim or nonexistent. Most of the others were killed in clashes with police or troops.

Qalandiya camp was established in 1949 in the wake of the creation of Israel and has grown into a densely populated town with 11,000 registered refugees.

Continuing, Pouilly noted that in the H2 area of Hebron alone, there have been 16 alleged attacks against Israelis since Oct 1, and of the 17 Palestinians involved in such incidents, 16 have been shot dead, with one injured and arrested.

Since early October, 120 Palestinians, 22 Israelis, an American and an Eritrean have been killed in the violence.

The organization also vowed to free its Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails in prisoner swaps similar to those implemented in the past.

Since the upsurge in violence, Israeli authorities have routinely withheld the bodies of Palestinians killed while carrying out attacks, one of several measures taken that critics condemn as “collective punishment”.

“We continue to be gravely concerned at the unrelenting violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and in Israel”, said Cecile Pouilly, spokeswoman for the United Nations human rights office.
