Dodgers acquire Frankie Montas, Trayce Thompson, Micah Johnson in 3-team trade

Obviously, the Tigers had the worst rotation in baseball last season and Frazier/Lawrie aren’t going to instantly make the White Sox a playoff team. The White Sox just acquired Brett Lawrie from the A’s, but he will now move to second base with Frazier taking over at third.

The Sox sent three of their top 15 prospects, according to MLB.com, to the Dodgers – right-hander Frankie Montas, second baseman Micah Johnson, outfielder Trayce Thompson.

The Reds managed to land Jose Peraza, a player they covet who was initially included in the Aroldis Chapman deal that fell through with the Dodgers after reports of a domestic violence issue came to light.

The Dodgers will trade infielder Jose Peraza, outfielder Scott Schebler and infielder Brandon Dixon to the Reds.

The Nats have been looking for another big bat in the lineup and they’ve reportedly called the Reds about being interested in Todd Frazier.

The 29-year-old Toms River South High School graduate and Little League World Series hero hit 35 home runs in 2015 and was selected to the National League All Star Team for the second consecutive year.

The White Sox have been clamoring for Frazier since the day their horrific season ended, knowing they needed to revamp their infield. 896 OPS in 44 games as a rookie last summer, but didn’t have a clear opening in the White Sox outfield with Melky Cabrera, Adam Eaton and Avisail Garcia all locking down spots. But with the team potentially losing Yoenis Cespedes to free agency, the Mets could still use an impact bat and this is where Frazier would be helpful. He could eventually find a home as a 4th outfielder in the crowded Dodgers outfield, or be traded to a team with a need later on. The 2017 season is the one to capitalize on and I would like to think the White Sox are prepared to do such a sneaky maneuver.

That being said, Jocketty has been largely successful with trades since coming to Cincinnati, despite his other shortcomings, so it may be necessary to give him the benefit of the doubt until we see how everything unfolds. Peraza is the primary prospect the Reds acquired. He has played in 150 or more games the past three seasons and is considered a good clubhouse presence.

Johnson, 24, appeared in 36 games, hitting.

Dixon, 23, had 19 homers, 68 RBIs and 26 steals for Class A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Tulsa this year.
