Van Gunst Named Honorable Mention All-America

USC senior and Pac-12 Player of the Year Samantha Bricio was named a first-team All-American and is the seventh player in USC history to be selected as an AVCA All-American at least three times, earning second-team honors in 2014 and 2013.

Orchard earns Honorable Mention All-America status for the second consecutive year, following another standout season for the Panthers in 2015.

Amber Rolfzen is a newcomer to the AVCA All-America Second Team. She is the espnW National Player of the Year and has led the nation in points (803.0), points per set (6.18 pps), services aces (89), and aces per set (0.68 saps) all season.

The awards will be presented on Friday, Dec. 18, in Omaha, Neb.at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet, held in conjunction with the 2015 AVCA Convention and the 2015 NCAA Championship. She also lead NM State with 414 kills, including a season high 20 kills against Denver on September 12.

The honors are another unprecedented accomplishment for KU this season as itis the first time Kansas has been represented on the AVCA All-America First Team.

Bergren averaged 10.45 assists per set over the season, with 1,160 total assists during 2015.

Hazelwood started all 28 matches for the Sooners and played in all 108 sets on the season. Dusek’s accomplishments include SEC Libero of the Year, All-SEC team, SEC Player of the Week once and SEC Defensive Player of the Week twice. In previous years, if a player was named to an All-Region team, they were automatically a honorable mention.

Payne is the Big 12 kills per set leader, member of the All-Big 12 First Team, member of the AVCA All-Midwest Region First Team, and a four-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Elliott also proved one of the best servers in the Big Ten, posting a career-high 38 service aces. She was named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention last week. She finishes her career in 11th on the program’s career blocks ladder (381). WASHINGTON senior middle blocker Lianna Sybeldon was a first-team All-America honoree, as well.

A native of Grand Island, Nebraska, Brand followed up her selection from a year ago by turning in a campaign that only surpassed it. The setter posted personal-bests in average assists (11.10), digs (3.10), kills (1.24) and points (1.76).

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its All-America honorees on Wednesday as well as the AVCA Freshman of the Year.
