Warriors Coach Steve Kerr Feels Better, Hopes to Return Soon

The Warriors head coach, who has been on a leave of absence since the preseason following complications from a summer back surgery, is improving and inspiring confidence in his players that he could return to his station by the end of the month. “But the Warriors still do not know when “” or if “” he will be back this season.

With the Warriors leading the league with a 24-1 record and playing exceptional basketball under interim coach Luke Walton, there is no pressure on Kerr to return anytime soon.

Steve Kerr attended the Golden State Warriors’ practice on Tuesday and appeared to act more like himself, but the team still doesn’t know when or if he’ll return this season. “I think we all understand that we’re going to need him to get back to where we want to go”.

Kerr’s sense of humor is returning and he’s leaning into players during practice.

Kerr earlier pointed out that he is confident about staging a comeback at some point during this season.

But most of all, during our 20-minute phone conversation this week, Kerr sounded fiercely determined to get back, figure out how to deal with the symptoms and start coaching this incredible group of players again.

He said this two-week homestand will give him a good gauge of his condition and his ability to manage and adjust to the headaches and other continuing symptoms. “We’re just really looking forward to him getting back, whenever that is”. “I know what the grind’s about”. “And lo and behold, he wins his first 24. He’s a quick study and has such a great personality and feel”.

“He looks better. He does”.

“It’s nice to have him back out on the court, pointing out things here and there, doing some coaching and putting us through some drills”.

Warriors guard Shaun Livingston said that he could tell Kerr is nearing full health because of the tone in Kerr’s voice.

I asked him bluntly, was there ever a thought that you might skip this season?
