And the veteran actor was delighted to have director J.J. Abrams behind the camera.
Newcomers to the galaxy far, far away include John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, who was unable to attend the premiere as he was promoting The Revenant in Hollywood.
In a message directed at fans, Harrison said: “I hope they enjoy the movie”. I think it’s a worthy effort.
“I’ve heard rumours that Luke may have gone over to the dark side – but I’ve been trying not to read anything about it. If this is confirmed, it’s a good signal since the rest of France is more similar to the suburbs than to Paris inner city with regards to cinema attendance”, said Eric Marti of Rentrak France.

While the force might be with Star Wars fans, they aren’t welcome to bring their lightsabers to most Lexington theaters showing the most anticipated movie of the year.
The seventh instalment comes 10 years after the last and reunites the original trio who were absent from the prequels.
