President Obama will see Star Wars: The Force Awakens ‘at some point’

And yet – because this is the world we live in – a group that spends its time organising petitions against Disney and Lucasfilm to continue creating stories based in Star Wars Legends (the name given to every book, comic, and game made outside of the films) has threatened a “spoiler jihadi” if the The Force Awakens doesn’t follow cannon.

“It’s like coming home to an event we’ve done for the last 40 years, but this is the biggest by far”.

They cheered as a procession of stormtroopers, led by Darth Vader, marched down the red carpet before the stars arrived.

“That I’m Jar-Jar”, the actress jokes with RadioTimes.com on the red carpet at the London premiere, giving a sly nod to the recent spate of theories surrounding The Phantom Menace’s most controversial character.

“I feel relaxed, as I said, and I come here to just be myself and feel real”.

“I think it’s a worthy effort”, he said.

Famous droids C-3PO and R2-D2 and new robot BB-8 also made an appearance.

Director and co-writer JJ Abrams was at the screening along with a host of his fellow stars such as Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson.

Asked whether the movie should be nominated for an Academy Award for best picture, she replied: “This is a really, really good film”.

Ridley, who plays Rey, shouted to the crowd as she arrived: “May the Force be with you all!”

Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, said he was overwhelmed: “It never gets old, it’s hard to believe the excitement after all of these years”. “They are lucky people here aren’t die-hard fans”.

“I get to speak a lot of people who are interested in this film”.

Star Wars creator George Lucas has already seen the movie and has reportedly given it his seal of approval.
