The authority said Thursday that Refaeli didn’t report the free Range Rover and Lexus cars she received from auto companies in exchange for published photos of herself with the cars. Up to date: 11:52 EST, 17 December 2015 Israeli model Bar Refaeli has-been questioned by authorities on suspected tax evasion.
Supermodel Bar Refaeli was reportedly questioned for 12 hours by authorities under suspicion of failing to pay millions of shekels in taxes.
Yair Rabinovich, a former Israeli national tax commissioner, said on Israel Radio that her residency classification depended on a combination of factors, including the number of days spent in the country and whether Israel was at “the centre of one’s life”.
It alleged the supermodel tried to hide the fact that she was a resident of Israel by living in apartments in Tel Aviv registered in her mother and brother’s names. Later, Refaeli moved to the nearby W Towers where she lived for three years. the contract for that apartment was signed by her mother in the same manner, even though it was the model who lived in the apartment.
The Tel Aviv Court ruled on Thursday that Refaeli will only be allowed to leave Israel with the authorities’ approval and after providing a NIS 250,000 ($64.500) guarantee.
The model, who started in the business when she was 11, was propelled to fame when she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimwear edition in 2009 and in recent weeks has featured in the latest Agent Provocateur lingerie catalogue.
