Chelsea’s dismal and abysmal start has been attributed to the tactical failings of Jose Mourinho – the defending Champions are now sitting in 16 position on the Premier League after 16 matches and the board might not be able to continue with Mourinho at the helms in a bid to avoid total capitulation of the club.
Mourinho said after the match that he did know the nature of the injury, adding: “The only thing I know is in 10 seconds he made the decision himself”.
It led one Belgian newspaper on Wednesday to question whether Hazard had faked his injury in some sort of boycott of Mourinho.
Hazard’s father is unsure on how long his son could be out for. “Do you really think that Eden’s going to fake an injury in such an important game? No, he really hurt his hip”, he told Het Nieuwsblad.
Guus Hiddink, another former Chelsea manager who is now out of work after a disastrous spell in charge of Holland, appears to tick a lot of boxes but the prospects of him returning in a caretaker role are unclear.
Arguably the best manager who could soon be available is Pep Guardiola, who has just six months left to go before his contract at Bayern Munich expires. “Every footballer goes through these periods when they have all this difficulty”.
