Pep Guardiola to Leave Bayern Munich, Carlo Ancelotti to Replace Him?

Bayern have been hopeful of persuading Guardiola to stay with a contract offer which would make him the best paid manager in the world.

Balague, though, says only Guardiola himself knows the truth: “No matter what people publish, nobody knows what he is going to do”, he is quoted by Sky Sports to have said.

Guardiola took over at Bayern following their treble win in 2013, and has won back to back Bundesliga titles.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini has 18 months left on his current deal, but the Blues know they can not pass up the chance to land long-term target Guardiola.

Coach Pep Guardiola wasn’t too pleased with the development and accused the head of the club’s medical services Volker Braun of being responsible for the epidemic of injuries now affecting the team on Thursday, reports Efe.

But Manchester United’s global appeal could lure Guardiola to Old Trafford, according to Bayern Munich’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer.

While the possibility looks some way off, it remains to be seen whether he would want to go back for a second coaching stint and potentially blemish the success achieved as a player and then manager.

“Conversations broke down, Juan Sebastian Veron came and Pep went to Qatar”.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said he will do all he can to keep the Spaniard in Munich. Guardiola and Ancelotti are the two outstanding candidates to replace him, though should they both accept moves elsewhere, it will force a riskier hire.

As they have done in each of the last three seasons, Bayern hold a commanding lead in the Bundesliga and are bidding to become the first team to win four consecutive German league titles.

The German magazine Kicker wrote Guardiola’s decision is “an open secret” in European football circles, and said the Marca report was “well-founded”.

‘He always joked the day I stopped being his assistant he’d have to pack it all in and retire.
