O’Connor: Why Tom Brady is NFL’s most harmful participant

If we need to raise money, we should raise money and get those set so that on those kinds of plays we have an absolute down-the-line angle of the play and not I would say the angles that I saw shown up on the screen, which none of them were down the line.

The Patriots (11-2) regained possession of the top spot in the AFC standings after losses earlier Sunday by the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. “He’s a great football player”.

One week ago the New England Patriots and their fans were waking up from a debacle of a loss in Foxborough.

Former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi once coined the phrase “hat-and-t-shirt” game when the team was playing for some type of championship – division, conference, Super Bowl.

The Patriots took care of business against the Texans jumping out to a two touchdown lead for the third straight week. That would prove to be as close as the Texans would get, however, as Brady hooked up with Rob Gronkowski for a 1-yard TD pass that made it 17-6 at halftime. The urgency was, I just wanted to be back out there with my teammates.

In fact, Brady replaced the injured Drew Bledsoe early in what was shaping up to be a bleak 2001 season, and out of left field pieced together a career for the ages. The Patriots also were the first team to clinch a playoff spot in the AFC after putting an end to their two-game losing streak.

The two plays occurred on the first drive of the third quarter.

Tom Brady was hit over and over on Sunday night and the result could have been much worse if the Texans had a healthy J. “I thought I’d give him a chance”.

The tight end scored his 10 touchdown of the season in the first half and finished with a team-high 87 receiving yards as the visitors cruised to a 27-6 victory over the Houston Texans.

“He’s a huge influence on what we do offensively”, Brady said. “The organization, myself just rehabbing really hard and everything checked out, everything felt good, so I was good to go”. One of the biggest reasons why New England’s secondary has been so effective is largely in part to how disruptive this group up front has been as a whole and his addition has certainly played a big role in that.

Other than himself, of course. As it is, they almost stole a game in Foxboro Week 7.

The cushion was comfortable thanks to the New England defense, which harassed Hoyer relentlessly as the Patriots snapped a brief two-game skid. Even new cornerback acquisition Leonard Johnson played well, defending one pass and not giving much space to Houston’s receivers. Or, at the very least, taking two of three. Brady, sacked three times, completed 22 of 30 passes for 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

“Couldn’t move the ball on offense at all”, Texans coach Bill O’Brien said. With Gronkowski back in the lineup, along with a fairly easy finishing slate (vs. Titans, at Jets, at Dolphins) remaining, the odds of the Patriots getting some extra rest before their quest to repeat begins looks better than ever. “There were times where it was painful, but that’s football, you know?”
