Bland was booked in Waller County Jail, about 60 miles from Houston, after her Friday arrest.
An autopsy performed a day later classified her death as suicide by hanging.
In a video released Wednesday night, multiple police officers seem to be holding 28-year-old Sandra Bland to the ground while she cries out, “You just slammed my head into the ground, do you not even care about that?”
She was driving near Prairie View’s campus when a Texas state trooper pulled her over for allegedly failing to signal while changing lanes, ABC 13 reported.
Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis said an investigation will commence, and the Bland family will give a press conference on Thursday after they’ve hired a lawyer. Her friends think there’s something more at play here.
The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate Bland’s death.
Now a video has emerged showing the moment the Ms Bland was arrested after being pulled over by police during a routine traffic stop.

But while authorities in Waller County say Sandra Bland appears to have committed suicide in her cell, an online campaign has sprung up questioning that official narrative. “Each one of us feels like we lost a part of ourselves and it’s hard, it’s going to be hard for a very long time”, said her sister Sharon Cooper. “Sandy was strong. Strong mentally and spiritually”. Local authorities in Texas say Bland killed herself, but her family and friends don’t believe that is the case, and suspects that the true cause of her death is being covered up. The ABC7 I-Team obtained video of the arrest, which was shot by a bystander. Bland was found dead three days later.

Some have taken to social media to question the official account of her death, with hashtags including #sayhername and #whathappenedtosandrabland. The statement continued, “While the investigation is being conducted by outside agencies, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office will continue to observe the daily operations of the jail to always look for improvements and/or preventions of these incidents”.
