But last offseason Manziel checked into 10 weeks of rehab, and Gordon was banned from the NFL for at least one year on February 3 for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Manziel can’t bank on that type of ground support this week with Seattle entering with the league’s second-ranked run defense, having allowed 59 combined yards on the ground the past two games. Manziel went to rehab around the same time Gordon was suspended and says he’s remained in “constant contact” with a player he hopes to play with during the 2016 season. Asked to clarify, he said the team would “absolutely” welcome Gordon back if the commissioner reinstates him.

Still, that type of receiver can help out the Browns when trying to stretch the field; instead, though, they’d rather do it with after-catch yardage and speed, such as what Travis Benjamin, Duke Johnson and Gary Barnidge bring to the passing offense.
