Marquez purchased the two AR-15 semi-automatic rifles used in the San Bernardino shootings legally but there is reportedly no record of him transferring ownership to the radicalized ISIS shooters. Marquez allegedly knew Farook was planning a different attack in 2011 or 2012 that was never carried out.

24-year-old Enrique Marquez, a former security guard who got fired from Walmart earlier this year, worked at the bar doing odd jobs until quite recently.

Federal prosecutors are expected to bring charges against the friend and neighbor of the suspects who killed 14 and wounded 21 others in San Bernardino.

According to USA Today, the owner of Morgan’s Tavern, Marquez’s place of employment, described the young man as “emotionally immature” but not risky.

Fox News reported last week that Marqez told neighbors there were “sleeper cells just waiting” to launch attacks. At the time, Marquez was not charged with a crime, and officials said he was cooperating with the investigation. They feared he had become suicidal, as he had checked himself into a mental-health institution shortly after the San Bernardino attack.

Agents have been investigating whether those men or any of their associates – or the FBI’s confidential informant in that case – had contact with Farook or Marquez.

Marquez also revealed during questioning that he and Farook talked about conducting a 2012 terror attack, but opted not to carry it out after unrelated terrorism alerts popped up in the area, reported CNN. Both U.S.-born Farook and Pakistan native Malik expressed commitment to Islamic jihad and martyrdom in direct, private online messages in late 2013, months before Malik moved to the United States to live with Farook, FBI Director James Comey has said.

Farook, 28, and Malik, 27, were buried at an undisclosed location Wednesday somewhere in Southern California.
