Abigail Breslin to star in ‘Dirty Dancing’ TV musical

Deadline.com reports that the network will bring “Dirty Dancing” to TV in the form of a three-hour remake that will star Abigail Breslin.

The film’s plot centers on Baby, who is on vacation at a Catskills resort with her family when she falls for a camp’s dance teacher. Just weeks ago, Bindi and Derek recreated the final dance sequence from the Dirty Dancing movie for Dancing with the Stars.

Live original musicals on TV have proven to do well with audiences – NBC has gotten huge ratings its annual musical.

The writer of the original screenplay, Eleanor Bergstein, is to be part of the remake. Quite a while ago, Fox announced it will be airing Grease Live! The choreography will be made by Andy Blankenbuehler.

The original film featured Jennifer Grey as’Baby’ and Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle. The production team will also include Adam Anders and Judy Cairo (producers), Stephen Altman (Production Designer) Adam Anders and Peer Astrom (music).
