Kendrick Lamar leads this year’s Grammy Awards pack with 11 nominations
Everyone’s favourite #squad leader Taylor Swift also cleaned up nicely, bagging an impressive seven nods for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The GRAMMY Awards will be presented Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, live from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
The 58th Grammy Awards will take place on 15 February 2016. Which means he now has the second most nominations for an artist in a single year in the Grammys’ history-just behind Michael Jackson’s 12 nods in 1984.
Swift’s music was unavoidable over the past year, racking up hit after hit from her blockbuster album 1989 thanks to much-watched music videos and a popular tour that saw surprise guests at almost every stop.
This is why Taylor Swift’s 1989 album is nominated for album of the year this year, while Shake It Off, her hit single off the album, was nominated for song of the year last year.
Going up against “Blank Space” in both categories is Ed Sheeran for “Thinking Out Loud”.
Other Canadian nods include Dundas, Ontario’s Caribou, for best dance/electronic album, and British Columbia’s Alex Cuba, for best Latin pop album.
A series of lovely collaborations between Bennett and Charlap, the album presents a number of Kern classics such as “I Won’t Dance” and “The Way You Look Tonight” in a cool, stripped-down setting. His album, which became a white-hot success after he won three honors and performed alongside Justin Timberlake at the CMAs, is also up for album of the year marking a return to the top prize for country music after some time.
Kendrick Lamar led the field for Grammy Nominations including Album of the Year, lifting rap music to a new level.
Swift isn’t the only singer to receive seven nominations.
The Grammy Awards are voted on by members of NARAS, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The hip-hop star picked up five nominations, including best rap song (“Energy”) and best rap album (“If Youre Reading This Its Too Late”). And Lamar’s “Alright”, produced by Pharrell, could be the first rap tune to ever win song of the year.
Sorry, folks. Adele’s album didn’t qualify for this year’s Grammys because the most recent Grammy year ran from October 2014 to September, and Adele’s album didn’t come out until November.
