“In the Pinterest Shop on iPhone, iPad and Android, you’ll find some of the top Pins with reduced prices in a new shoppable collection, with exclusively reduced prices from Modern Citizen, Lucky Duck Boutique, Maude and more”, the spokesperson says.

As a catalog of ideas, our mission is to help people discover and do things they love in their everyday lives.

Pinterest is adding a new feature to its Buyable Pins in-app purchase mechanism aimed at price-conscious shoppers. Over 60 million Buyable Pins are available on the site’s home feed, search results, and the Pinterest shop, which debuted in November and showcases handpicked pins for people to peruse and buy.

Expect a lot of email notifications as there are over 1 million pins that has their prices lowered every day, according to Pinterest.

“I don’t think it’s a unique psychology to Pinterest, but we tried to build a shopping experience that worked for that customer experience – discovering a product, waiting for the right moment, and then completing the purchase in a seamless way”, said Pinterest product marketing manager Sarah Shere.

The visual bookmarking social site pushed out a new tool to its users Thursday that sends alerts about price drops for products they’ve pinned.
