FBI, US marshals join search for ‘affluenza’ teen
“And we’re going to keep looking and we’re not going to stop”. “You have to remember, you can rob a million dollars and go off the grid”.

A federal task force has been formed to help find him.
“Affluenza” teen Ethan Couch and his mother are now on the run and could be anywhere in the world. His attorneys claimed his parents were to blame for their son’s actions because they raised him to be spoiled.
The 18-year-old named by Tarrant County officials as Ethan Couch, and placed on the county’s most wanted list, missed his mandatory meeting with his probation officer, prompting a warrant for his apprehension to be issued on December 11.
Couch is already under investigation after a video posted on social media appears to show him next to a drinking game, possibly in violation of this probation, Jordan told ABC News earlier this month.
Word of the search for Couch has reignited controversy over the case.
Couch has been missing since last Friday, but police began their search on Tuesday. In 2013 Couch’s attorneys argued that his privileged upbringing meant he didn’t understand the consequences of his actions. His probation officer hasn’t heard from him in days. “It is our understanding that the court has issued a directive to apprehend, to have Ethan detained because he is out of contact with his probation officer”.
Couch’s disappearance isn’t the only possible parole violation he’s facing.
“We’re working every angle we can work”, said Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson.
“They have the money”. I think this was planned.
As a defense attorney, here’s why I’m mad: There are often very good reasons to soften sentences for citizens accused, but not in the case of Ethan Couch.
But the court bought it. Couch pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter, but instead of going to jail, the judge sentenced him to alcohol rehabilitation and 10 years probation. Couch was ordered into long-term mental health treatment, away from his parents’ influence.
His lawyers also confirmed that Couch has gone under the radar. If that happens and he violates the terms of his probation in the future, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
The probation sentence outraged the victims’ families and spectators across the country.
On June 15th, 2013, Shelby Boyles and her mother, Hollie, were helping their friend Breanna Mitchell, whose vehicle had broken down some distance from home.
Couch plowed into them, killing them all. Several others suffered severe injuries, including two passengers thrown from the bed of Couch’s truck. The then-16-year-old had a blood alcohol content of 0.24, three times the legal limit for an adult, and was driving 70 miles per hour in a 40-mph zone.

A two-week head start won’t be enough for someone like Couch, even with the family’s large bank account.
