In 1986, Neerja was shot down as she saved the passengers of the Pan Am Flight 73, which was hijacked by terrorists in Karachi. “And after I met her family, I owe it to her family, to be as honest as possible and do my very best”. And when she came back she said she wanted to be an actress.

No wonder, the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo actress was on a lookout for that one powerful role which would catapult her to the coveted pedestal of seasoned actors and she secured it in upcoming release, Neerja alongside veteran actress Shabana Aazmi.
