“File movement register of the chief minister’s office has been seized”.

The AAP today sprang to the defence of senior bureaucrat Rajendra Kumar, who is facing a CBI probe over allegations of corruption, and virtually gave him a clean chit. Kejriwal asked in a series of tweets.

“The CBI categorically denies having seized any material during searches that are not relevant to its investigation”. An official was being searched for an alleged offence in his earlier capacities.

The CBI began investigation and registered a case based on allegations against Kumar made by Ashish Joshi, former member-secretary, Delhi Dialogue Commission.

The office of Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar was raided by CBI yesterday in a corruption case triggering a fresh face-off between the AAP and Centre and a vicious political slugfest in which the AAP chief lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Is this what is expected from a chief minister?” “CBI raids my office. One can not say that a clerk’s office was raided and not the chief minister’s”. “Modi is a coward and psychopath”, he said, sparking an angry condemnation from a furious BJP which demanded an apology from the Chief Minister for his “disgraceful” remarks. “The CMO office was neither searched, nor sealed”.

Rawat said the raid started between 9.10am and 9.20am on Tuesday.

Kejriwal insisted that the CBI officials had searched his room too and read the file related to the probe report on the DDCA he had ordered.

“They asked me to cooperate or face arrest. No personal allegation was ever made against me nor did I ever feel the need of contradicting it”, he said yesterday. With both the sides accusing the other of shielding the corrupt, the issue of Central Bureau of Investigation raid won’t die easily.

“They were busy examining piles of files and at the same time some of them were questioning us”.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu told reporters the CBI is an independent organisation and does not act under the orders of the government.

Along with Kumar, CBI also examined owner of Endeavour Systems Private Limited Dinesh Gupta and Managing Director of Intelligent Communication Systems India Limited (ICSIL) R S Kaushik here at its headquarters.
