Showtime has unveiled a mysterious new teaser for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, one which fits right in with the mysterious and quirky nature of the cult classic series.

Lynch and fellow creator/executive producer Mark Frost-after some widely reported disputes-have come back to helm the new PEAKS series, and Kyle MacLachlan will reprise his role of Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Dale Cooper as well.

No further details, but the series did begin production in September, which at least suggested an arrival date coming as early as 2016. “It just touches something in the psyche”, says actor Michael Horse, who plays Tommy “Hawk” Hill, and will obviously be returning for this episode.

We also get to see the installation of the iconic Twin Peaks town sign (complete with the same population of 51,201). “There’s a lot of holy places up here, lot of sacred places”.

The show followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. In the 25 years since Twin Peaks premiered and blew everyone’s minds, television has changed a lot, and the new Twin Peaks nearly certainly won’t be the weirdest thing on the air. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence.
