House Approves $1.1 Trillion Spending Bill
They warned if the bill didn’t pass, Republicans would still end up getting the tax cuts that were negotiated alongside the spending bill, and Democrats would be short-changing a host of programs they have fought to give more resources. “So, this massive and wasteful spending bill is on Republican leadership-who continues the pattern I have seen for five years now”.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Broke Box Office Records Last Night
While spoilers will not be given out, the film was full of surprises while paying homage to both trilogies that came before it. Greenfield said the success of “Force Awakens” would not be enough to offset the impact of subscriber losses at ESPN.
“They had to put big oil in the omnibus” to get the spending measure passed, Pelosi told reporters Friday before the vote.
Liverpool Won’t Risk James Milner for Watford Game Due to Injury
Odion Ighalo is 15/8 to score for a fourth successive match and Price Boosted to 8/1 (from 9/2) to score in a Watford win. The Hornets have amassed an impressive 25 points from 16 matches and sit seventh in the table, a point ahead of Liverpool.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand said September 11 first responders “can finally feel secure that they will have health care for the rest of their lives”.
Obama vows to destroy IS, defeat ‘new phase’ of terror threat
He said terrorists have turned to simpler acts of violence like mass shootings that are in some cases harder to thwart. But speaking from a lectern in front of a resolute desk, Obama tried to sound resolute.
The House on Thursday passed the tax portion of the deal on a 318 to 109 vote.
In the compromise measure, Republicans won the lifting of a 40-year ban on US crude oil exports, although other controversial GOP proposals were not included, including ending federal funding for Planned Parenthood. She got commitments from congressional leaders and the White House to address the issue early next year.
The deal marks a major achievement for new Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who delivered 150 Republican votes for the spending bill. Not all voted for the package, but Ryan still earned a strong vote.
“With this bill in place, Americans will no longer have to worry each December if Congress will take action to extend certain tax-relief measures”, said Kevin Brady, the Republican chairman of the House tax-writing committee. Some Democrats hinted they would withhold their support for the spending bill over objections to lifting the oil export ban.
They hammered home the message that while the oil-exports policy rider and lack of financial reinforcement for Puerto Rico were deeply troubling, Democrats should not lose sight of the reality that Republicans in many ways lost at the negotiating table: There were dozens of policy riders Democrats deemed “poison pills” which would also not have survived a Senate filibuster or withstood the president’s signature.
Democratic leaders did not formally whip in favor of the legislation, arguing it was Republicans’ bill and thus the GOP’s responsibility to get it over the finish line.
“Small business owners across Maine and throughout our country tell me repeatedly that the constant change and uncertainty in our tax code have hindered their ability to invest and create new, good-paying jobs”, Collins said.
The spending measure awards increases of about 6 per cent, on average, above tight spending caps that were a relic of a 2011 budget and debt deal, and were opposed by both GOP defence hawks and Democrats seeking boosts in domestic spending.
After a period of belt-tightening in Washington – including automatic budget cuts known as sequesters imposed in 2013 – the spending measure provides a notable $66 billion increase in federal outlays above previously agreed-upon limits, divided equally between military and non-military programmes, for 2016. Marco Rubio of Florida also came out against the legislation, but was not present for the vote. Lindsey Graham of SC – supported the bill.
Beyond that, the Minnesota renewable energy sector will be pleased that tax credits for wind and solar power industries have been extended.

The two pieces of legislation would suspend three taxes meant to fund the Affordable Care Act – a so-called Cadillac tax on high-cost health insurance plans would be delayed from 2018 to 2020; a 2.3 percent tax on medical devices would be paused in 2016 and 2017; and a fee on health insurers would be paused for 2016. Under a plan worked out in bipartisan negotiations, the legislation would be combined and voted on in the Senate the same day.
