Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs said in a statement Friday that after a discussion with the DNC “it became clear that one of our staffers accessed some modeling data from another campaign”.
The campaign asked “that the Sanders campaign and the DNC work expeditiously to ensure that our data is not in the Sanders campaign’s account and that the Sanders campaign only have access to their own data”.
“We have a memorandum of understanding that specifically has a provision in it that allows us to suspend access to the voter file when they’re – particularly in cases like this where there has been a breach of proprietary information”, she said.
Clinton’s campaign declined comment on the incident.
Clinton has 55.9 percent to Sanders’ 30.7 percent in the latest national RealClearPolitics average of national Democratic polls. What is required here is a full and independent audit of the DNC’s mishandling of this data, and its security from the beginning of this campaign to the present.
