West Texas Intermediate (WTI) U.S. crude futures were at .41 per barrel, down 35 cents after touching .12, their lowest since February 2009.
Marquez and Farook did more than talk.
Gun buyer in San Bernardino massacre mused on Facebook about troubles
Wearing handcuffs and beige T-shirt, Marquez appeared in federal court in Riverside, California for a brief hearing on Thursday. Apparently it was a marriage of convenience , and a sham in order to get the woman in question American citizenship.
By 2011, the special agent said Marquez and Farook were planning terrorist attacks on Riverside Community College and on the 91 freeway. Investigators say the two men scouted locations – picking a community college both had attended and a busy state road as their targets – and went on to visit firing ranges for target practice, buy firearms and purchase materials for explosives. Inside, many of his co-workers had gathered for a training event and holiday party. Soon thereafter, Farook introduced Marquez to a radical form of the religion and in the years that followed Marquez – alongside Farook – emerged himself deeper into the radicalized ideologies.
Hiddink arrives in London, confirms Chelsea talks
The Blues qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League last week, and will host Sunderland on Saturday. Meanwhile, Chelsea captain John Terry has described Mourinho’s exit after 30 months in charge as a “sad, sad day”.
In 2007, Marquez converted to Islam.
Farook is presented in the affidavit as the force pulling Marquez toward violent extremism. According to the affidavit accompanying the charges, Marquez was paid $200 per month for the union and said his own mother and brother didn’t know about it.
An American drone strike ended the life of high-profile American al Qaeda member Anwar al-Awlaki in late 2011, but newly-released court documents reveal his link to yet another domestic terror plot – the latest evidence of the cleric’s enduring, deadly legacy.
Farook also expressed exasperation with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and disdain for Muslims who serve in the U.S. military and kill other Muslims, the documents show.
In 2011, Marquez said he spent much of his time at Farook’s home, consuming a steady diet of extremist thought. They claimed that since the Islamist groups in question were not Specially Designated Terrorist Organizations (SDTOs) tracking individuals related to these groups was a violation of the travelers’ civil liberties.
Farook and Marquez never attempted to carry out these earlier plans.
Marquez told investigators he stopped plotting with Farook after 2012 for “a variety of reasons”, including the arrest of three men that November in Southern California on suspicion of plotting to kill Americans in Afghanistan. The FBI was investigating the incident as an act of terrorism.
After the visit, Barack and Michelle Obama planned to continue on to Hawaii for a previously scheduled vacation. According to reports, Marquez, who is employed as a doorman at the pirate-themed Morgan’s Tavern in Riverside, did not show up for work after the attacks.
They also focused on killing motorists along Route 91, which they planned to block with a pipe-bomb attack during rush hour.
“He has provided them a lot of details about the weapons, about possibly other attacks planned, about conversations particularly with Farook”, said Former FBI specialist Brad Garrett.
Marquez was also charged in US District Court on Thursday with the unlawful purchase of the guns used in the Dec 2 shootings carried out by US-born Farook and his Pakistani wife, Tashfeen Malik, as well as the purchase of some of the explosive material used in the attack.
Marquez, who had met Farook when they were neighbors in Riverside, California, is facing charges for making false statements in the acquisition of firearms, marriage fraud, and conspiring to provide material support to terrorists.
Marquez has become the focus of authorities after they discovered he bought the two assault rifles used in the terror attack.
“His prior purchase of the firearms and ongoing failure to warn authorities about Farook’s intent to commit mass murder had fatal consequences”, U.S. Attorney Eileen Decker said.
The court records included a partial transcript of a 911 call Marquez made in the hours after the San Bernardino shootings.
The dispatcher then asks, “He used your gun?”
Marquez answers that his neighbour did the shooting.
Known as mild-mannered and impressionable, Marquez was undergoing an unnerving transformation behind the scenes, according to the affidavit.
