A mall brawl led to gunfire at a Wisconsin mall Saturday, leaving one man injured and hundreds of shoppers panicked on one of the busiest shopping days of the year, police said.

The suspect fired at least one round, and a 19-year-old, who had also been involved in the scuffle, was struck in the leg, Despain told NBC News.

Joel DeSpain, a spokesman for the Madison police said police were still looking for a suspect. He was transported to a hospital with a non life-threatening wound, he said. “There were no reports that any mall patrons are in danger at this time”, said Ricardo Franco, a Madison Police Department officer, adding that he had no information on possible injuries.

Photos from the scene show several police officers and a number of police vehicles outside the mall. Someone pulled a gun causing mayhem in the crowed area, police said. It reopened about 6 p.m. But the State Journal notes many stores remained closed at that time after employees left.

Hadley, 16, and her mother were Christmas shopping at Express, which is located just off the food court, near the center of the mall, when they heard a loud bang.
