Patriots’ Brady questionable for Sunday due to illness

The New England Patriots aren’t special in a sense that they have to deal with injuries.

The Patriots got a small scare on Friday when Tom Brady missed practice due to an illness.

Interim coach Mike Mularkey said opponents know Walker is rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota’s top target for the Titans (3-10). “But we have to do our best to handle that, and identify with what is going on, and try and use our plays and use that as a mismatch and hopefully execute better”.

A playoff birth has already been clinched, but the New England Patriots are looking to secure their seventh consecutive AFC East championship when they meet the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.

Mariota obviously has gotten most of the attention with the Titans, and he has started 11 games this season throwing for 2,786 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. A few plays here and there, and Tennessee could have won all three of those games.

Jackson injured his left knee in last week’s game against the Chicago Bears and sat out a practice earlier in the week. Freeny has not practiced this week after suffering a hand injury against the Texans last weekend. They’ll need another outlet in the passing game, and Green-Beckham – the 6-5, 237-pound rookie – has eight catches for 172 yards in his past two contests. It was the first practice Brady has missed in the 2015 season.

Johnson appeared in just one game for the Patriots before being released.

The Patriots and Titans history goes back to the earliest days of the AFL when they were known as the Houston Oilers.

–The Indianapolis Colts signed defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles to the practice squad.
