Chelsea see off Sunderland 3-1 in first game without Jose Mourinho
Two days after being fired for Chelsea‘s feeble English Premier League title defense and “palpable discord” with his squad, Mourinho’s name was chanted throughout the 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

Chelsea’s first-team coach Steve Holland backed Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa to win back the club’s supporters after they were booed during the 3-1 Premier League win over Sunderland.
It left Allardyce admitting he is back to square one.
“But the start we made to the season has become a major disappointment to the owner, the board and fans”.
He ensured they looked forward to a positive 2010 season with champions League qualification, even as he left the club with tears in the eyes of the players.
Neither he nor the club would confirm press reports that Drogba, who had two successful spells as a player at Chelsea, would join the coaching team. And now that Chelsea looks likes it’s got some momentum – the club scored more goals on Saturday than they had scored in the past five matches – Chelsea will be in high spirits once Hiddink makes his official debut.
Holland says the players must accept responsibility for the season Chelsea have endured, and that supporters have a right to express their views.
The champions took control through goals from Branislav Ivanovic, Pedro and Oscar before Fabio Borini pulled one back in the 53rd minute at Stamford Bridge. The home fans in the 41,000-strong crowd rose to their feet for a couple of minutes in an ovation to him.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chelsea fans stand in silence for the whole game”.
“I find myself toiling with the fact that we put one team out that plays in that system, does really well at Palace and Arsenal, but today it never worked whatsoever”. Another placard said: “Our Jose sacrificed, why?” But the only way to change this is we have to win the games, we have to get the points and get out of this situation.
Bottom club Aston Villa claimed a point in a 1-1 draw at Newcastle United thanks to a fine Jordan Ayew goals but remain in deep trouble – 10 points adrift of the safety zone.
The form of Fabregas has been just as poor.
But fans have come out lending their support to Mourinho, with some still opting to wear Jose memorabilia, while a banner reading “With you Jose” continues to have its pride of place in the stadium. “They had to show that on the pitch”. It’s not a dip in form.
On whether he would be at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s game against Norwich City today, Hiddink said: “That (attending the game) is something the coaches do”.

Leicester then locked up the three points in the second half off Mahrez’s second in the 65th minute, and the match sealer from Shinji Okazaki four minutes later.
