Photos of the latest HTC Vive headset and controllers have been leaked
HTC CEO Cher Wang made a huge announcement today at the company’s Vive Unbound developers forum in Beijing, that has VR fans eagerly awaiting CES (which begins January 6th and runs through January 9th). While everyone expected a hot new flagship model, the company released the mid-range HTC One A9, hardly the hero that the company’s fans were hoping for. But how is the virtual reality headset going to look like when the device arrives at CES?

In related news, a couple of Reddit users snooping around on HTC’s developer site claim to have found images of what may very well be the final consumer version of the Vive.
This isn’t the first time that Wang has excited the HTC faithful this year. Similar, that is, but ultimately different.
The updated pictures make the older development kit looks like an old bag of nuts and bolts, and the difference is especially noticeable in the controllers. Unfortunately pricing of the headset still remains a mystery and the closest thing Engadget could get to an answer was Wang saying that 80% of HTC’s engineers raised their hands in agreement when presented with one of the price options. The controllers appear more comfortable in general due to the presence of cushioning, putting the HTC Vive at par with the competing Samsung Gear VR.

Its Vive VR headset was originally expected to debut by the end of the year but if you’ve been keeping up with the news, you’re already aware of the fact that HTC recently pushed the launch date back to April 2016.
