Mother Teresa Set For Sainthood
The Vatican says Pope Francis has signed off on the miracle needed to make Mother Teresa a Saint, giving the nun who cared for the poorest of the poor one of the Catholic Church’s highest honors just two decades after her death.

Mother Teresa is likely to be canonised in September next year to coincide with the 19th anniversary of her death and Pope Francis’s Holy Year of Mercy.
Catholics believe a saint is someone who lived a holy life and who’s already in heaven.
The miracle that earned her sainthood, however, is tied to the inexplicable cure of a Brazilian man suffering from a viral brain infection, the Vatican said. Today, the Catholic Church credited her with a second medical miracle. Born in present-day Macedonia in 1910, she came from a Catholic family of Albanians, and became know as the “saint of the gutter” for her work with India’s poor and sick. “We will incorporate more number of films since the numbers of documentaries and movies made on her has gone up over the years”, Lucas said, adding talks and seminars by experts on Mother Teresa will be important highlights of the fest. “We are very excited and happy about it”, Missionaries of Charity spokesperson Sunita Kumar told Echo of India. We could not agree more with her being elevated to sainthood.
Teresa is a revered figure throughout the world, but her speedy path to sainthood – in modern times, second only to John Paul II’s, who made the grade in 2014 nine years after his death – has not been without its critics. According to Besra, the tumor was cured by a locket containing Mother Teresa’s image.
In 1979, she received the Nobel Peace Prize, which drew the attention of the media to the demure nun in blue and white.
