According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the cricketer was having no travel documents including visa due to which he was barred from coming out of Benazir International Airport in Islamabad.
On December 14, Mr. Jones had confirmed his appointment as the head coach for Islamabad franchise in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL). “He came to Islamabad on Flight EK 614 without visa”, airport officials told the media.
The first edition of the PSL Twenty20 league will be held in Dubai and Sharjah from February 4.
Jones has visited Pakistan in the past for commentary assignments and recently also appeared as an expert for the state owned television channel.
“He arrived without Pakistani visa and no permission letter of VOA, BVOA, LP was sent by Interior to wave visa condition. Once he has a valid visa he can comeback”, the immigration official said.
However, the former Australian cricketer denied he was reported saying, “My paperwork for Pakistan visa wasn’t complete due to recent change in visa policy.
I will reach Lahore tonight” he added.
Earlier, former Australian player claimed that he just missed the traveling document and will arrive at Lahore on Sunday night.
