That was the first known incident of its kind since the Cold War and the most serious of several air incursions since early October, leaving relations between Turkey and Russian Federation at their lowest ebb in recent memory.

Russian Federation insists it will show that the SU-24 jet, on a bombing mission in Syria, did not violate the airspace of neighbouring Turkey, as Ankara claims.

Russia on Friday invited foreign diplomats and experts to attend the examination of a flight recorder from a Russian warplane downed by Turkey last month.

Officials from the Russian Defense Ministry opened the orange-painted container as British and Chinese experts observed.

“We have sufficient evidence that proves that the Russian aircraft did not violate Turkish airspace”, Dronov said, adding that the warplane had been flying in Syrian airspace and within 5.5 kilometers (three miles) of the Turkish border.

The flight recorder was opened in a laboratory in the presence of experts from Russia, China and Britain, Xinhua news agency reported.

“Tensions between the two major powers have hit an all-time high since the shooting down of a Russian S-24 jet by the Turkish Air Force on November 24”, as previously noted by Inquisitr, “which led to the death of one of the pilots, as well as a marine sent to rescue him”.

Dronov said the black box presented to the public on Friday had not been touched since it was recovered from the crash site.

Davutoglu said that Putin’s remarks on Turkey do not mean anything.

Authorities in Ankara responsible for Turkey’s maritime industry activities confirmed the hostile Russian stance against Turkish-flagged ships under the guise of audit.

The military said the black box had sustained damage, including multiple scratches and dents, but had not been exposed to the fire at the crash site.

But the Russian leader also warned that no black box finding could assuage Moscow’s anger over the incident.

“We have agreed on a package of assurance measures for Turkey in view of the volatile situation in the region”, Stoltenberg said, although he avoided any reference to Russia’s military involvement in Syria and its air incursions.
