Robert Nkemdiche suspended for Sugar Bowl

His status for the Rebels’ Jan. 1 Sugar Bowl game against Oklahoma State remains unknown.

Last week, Nkemdiche was charged with possession of marijuanaafter an incident in which the star defensive lineman fell from a fourth-floor window at an Atlanta-area hotel.

Nkemdiche should be able to blow evaluators away at the scouting combine thanks to his ridiculous physical attributes and measurements, but he’ll need to convince prospective employers he’s able to commit himself to becoming a more consistent every-down player.

Nkemdiche has denied using synthetic drugs.

On Monday, coach Hugh Freeze was non-committal about whether Nkemdiche would play; Nkemdiche issued a statement apologizing and wanting to rejoin the team.

One of those people that can jam out on the saxophone and play it beautifully is Ole Miss defensive end Robert Nkemdiche.

“I am sorry for putting coach Freeze in this position and will accept whatever consequences are necessary, but my hope is to finish this year’s journey with my brothers”, Nkemdiche said. I look forward to sharing with National Football League general managers and scouts what a unique and talented individual he is. I have learned a valuable lesson in the last week, and I look forward to showing National Football League personnel that this is not representative of my true character.

The Sugar Bowl is likely to be Nkemdiche’s final game with Ole Miss before the junior declares for the NFL Draft where he’s projected to be a top-five pick.
