Jets keep playoff hopes alive, eliminate Cowboys
While first year Jets head coach Todd Bowles is basking in his victory, veteran Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett may be anxious for his job. “Playoffs or not, we have to string some games together”.

“Sometimes we may need them, fourth quarter, overtime, it may be just one play”, Marshall said of Enunwa and Thompkins. “But the good ones win the ugly games and we’re becoming one of those teams”. They hold a half-game lead over Kansas City and Pittsburgh in the American Football Conference Wild Card race, with both the Chiefs and Steelers scheduled to play on Sunday.
“He came back and made the game-winner and that says a lot about the guy”, Bowles said.
“Kind of had tough sledding for a while”, said Fitzpatrick, who faces AFC East-leading New England and Tom Brady next week.
“There’s going to be adversity throughout the game, and I thought that was a great sign for us, just to show that the belief is always there”, Fitzpatrick said.
Moore went 15 of 25 for 158 yards with the 10-yard touchdown to Bryant to put the Cowboys up 10-9 at halftime.
Jets receiver Brandon Marshall had 74 yards on four catches.
With the Jets down, 13-9, Fitzpatrick coolly led a nine-play, 70-yard touchdown drive and connected with Decker on a 3-yard touchdown pass to give the Jets a 16-13 lead.

“We have to clean up a lot of things before we get to them”, Bowles said. All the Jets can do is keep winning and hope for the best. The Cowboys (4-9) have been atrocious this year – just a season removed from making the playoffs. On their next drive, Matt Cassel had possibly the most Cassel play of his career, when he got flagged for intentional grounding on an interception to Darrelle Revis. Three times the Jets had the ball with three or less yards to go inside Dallas’ 5 yard line, and three times the defense stopped them. The Jets’ offense finally found its groove. And let’s all take a longer look at Moore. We’ll see what happens.
The Moore experiment got off to a rocky start.
Special teams was its usual atrocious self as well, allowing 131 yards on five kickoff returns, shanking punts and missing field goals.
The Dallas Cowboys are officially eliminated from playoff contention following their 19-16 loss to the New York Jets. Dallas had 133. Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant (four catches for 50 yards) had the team’s lone touchdown. Dallas has double-digit losses for the first time since going 6-10 in 2010.
Dallas tied the game when New York’s defense couldn’t keep a Kellen Moore led offense out of field goal range.
NY also had been very disciplined and avoided penalties for the most part this season, but completely melted down against Dallas, accruing eight flags for 61 yards, including multiple holding penalties by guard Brian Winters which brought back big plays. Fitzpatrick threw an interception of his own, giving Dallas yet another chance inside the red zone.
On the next possession, Cassel gave NY a gift. The Jets retained control of the ball after a video review. Cowboys RB Darren McFadden had 100 yards on 16 carries his fifth 100-yard game of the season…. He has taken over as the team’s No. 1 running back and run away with it.
