Gunfire At Wisconsin Mall Leaves One Injured

The mall was reopened late Saturday afternoon.

According to the East Towne Mall’s website, the mall has been closed due to a ‘safety concern’.

Madison Police spokesperson Officer David Dexheimer told WKOW-TV that the shooting happened around 2:50 p.m. just off center court near the food court area.

A man who witnessed the shooting tells WKOW it appears a man was shot inside the mall and he saw first responders doing CPR. One pulled out a handgun and fired, hitting a 19-year-old.

No additional information was available at this time.

Officers cleared the mall looking for the suspect.

Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said a bullet struck a man who was part of the initial dispute.

East Towne Mall is an 840,000-square-foot shopping center at the intersection of East Washington Avenue, Zeier Road and Lien Road.

She declined to give her name, citing department policy.
