Here’s the Steelers’ road to the playoffs

They’ll get their wish if the secondary can keep the lid on Steelers WRs Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant.

The Steelers (8-5) are one of the NFL’s hottest teams, but if the season ended today, they wouldn’t make the playoffs.

And early lead may be imperative for the Broncos because it would allow them to run the ball and not get one-dimensional on offense.

On the other side, Ben Roethlisberger has been carving up opponents of late thanks to his own talent and the loaded receiving corps around him. Much of this is because of Roethlisberger’s ability to use his weapons.

Pittsburgh’s defense hasn’t been almost as good, but it has had its moments. With 10 more catches, he also will join Wes Welker as only the second player in National Football League history to record 110 or more receptions in three consecutive years. He is also second in yards this season, but he’s been without Roethlisberger for numerous games this season. The Broncos’ backup quarterback could have more success against a Steelers defense that has been among the worst at pass defense. Ultimately, you’re likely confident in the Patriots against anyone, anywhere – but you’d feel better about the Patriots at home against Pittsburgh than on the road at Denver.

Somehow, they got their act together and helped win a game by playing the best second half of their season Sunday.

The safest choice here is the Steelers, and one might imagine that waving a Terrible Towel would be easier to stomach than donning the Broncos orange.

McCarron didn’t even get to keep the second score he threw to running back Rex Burkhead in the fourth quarter.

The Denver Broncos defense has played their way into being one of the best in the league this year.

The Big Ben healthy again and the Steelers offense clicking on all cylinders the resurgence of wide out Antonio Brown has been a blessing for the Steelers faithful. “It does not sound like he is inclined to be Brock Osweiler’s backup”. The Broncos dropped that one 15-12.

While Brock Osweiler has kept the Broncos above the fray filling in for injured Peyton Manning, Denver isn’t exactly putting opposing defenses on notice. A flawless passer rating for Osweiler midway through the 2nd quarter.

The Steelers came into the game having piled up 500 yards on opposing defenses three times in the previous five games.

The Steelers are a tough matchup on the ground. But with just more than three minutes left in the first quarter, he seemingly forgot Emmanuel Sanders, who blew past him, caught a wide-open pass from Osweiler and streaked into the end zone to give Denver a seven-point lead. Safety Kurt Coleman has interceptions in each of his last five games.

“Obviously, we didn’t protect our quarterback very well, especially in the game last week”, said Kubiak. His first offense, which came in the Seattle game, resulted in a $5,787 fine.

Las Vegas now favors the Steelers by six this week with an over/under that is sitting around 45. However, they face a strong Steelers team that is itself in the Playoff hunt.
