President Carter announced the sad news while teaching a Sunday school class in his hometown of Plains, GA. Carter said Jeremy, who was not feeling well on Saturday, lay down for a nap in the family’s Peachtree City home. His mother reportedly checked on him and found that his heart had stopped beating. Jeremy was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The cause is not known.

Jeremy Carter is the son of Annette and Jeff Carter, who is Jimmy Carter’s youngest son. “I’m not surprised”, church member Jan Williams told Atlanta Journal-Constitution.”That’s kind of Christian he is”.

The family tried CPR, but it didn’t help, the insider added. “He lives his life as a lesson for other people to see”. There have been moments of great joy, of sadness, of grief.

“(President Carter) was shaken.

It was the same class where he announced to many his cancer battle and, more recently, his triumph against the aggressive disease.

The Washington Post reported that doctors discovered “four spots of melanoma” on his brain, after which he underwent the latest immune treatment that is unlike traditional chemotherapy that brings side effects such as nausea.
