Real Madrid scores 10 goals for the first time since 1960

Real Madrid trashed Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu as the visitors were down to nine men since the 29th minute.

“We feel humiliated but we feel good, despite what happened”.

Rayo played better than Los Blancos during the first 15 minutes and took a 1-2 lead, but Tito’s red card completely changed the game.

However, the Madrid fans still voiced their disapproval towards under fire coach Rafael Benitez after Real found themselves 2-1 down inside 12 minutes.

Jemez claims Spanish football lost credibility as a result of the “shameful” La Liga rout.

“It is a long time since I have seen something so grotesque and shameful that doesn’t benefit us or Madrid”.

Real Madrid is now third in the La Liga table with 30 points having won 9 games, drawn 3 and lost 3.

The two dismissals meant that the hosts were always going to win the game against a notoriously cavalier opponent, but the performance was never convincing and, when the numbers were even, Madrid trailed to their tiny neighbours at home.

The match itself got off to a blistering start, but few would have predicted after the first ten minutes that this game would end so drastically different.

Despite the goal glut, the match was played out in a unusual atmosphere in the capital after the action had been preceded by considerable sections of the home support jeering Benitez’s name when it was announced alongside the team lineups before the game.

Gareth Bale just might find another level this season for Real Madrid.

But the referee sent of Rayo’s Tito in the 14th minute and Raul Baena in the 29th minute, giving Real Madrid a two-man advantage.

Real bounced back in some style from the previous weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Villarreal, with Karim Benzema netting a hat-trick and Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice, but did not initially have it all their own way at the Bernabeu.

Bale netted his second in the 41st and completed his hat-trick in the 61st after Benzema and Ronaldo had struck in the 48th and 53rd, respectively.

It was Celta’s third victory in a row and kept them a point ahead of Villarreal, who had former Manchester City midfielder Denis Suarez to thank for their 2-0 win away at Real Sociedad. And whilst the two clubs are geographically very close, on the pitch today, they were miles apart.
